So, you want to be a hipster? Before you can transform into a hipster, you must be able to pick one out of a crowd. The clich hipster will be wearing thick-rimmed glasses, skinny jeans, printed/graphic t-shirts of bands you have never heard of, and perhaps even a trucker hat or some other strange hat to finish the look. If you see someone with three of these characteristics, then you have successfully spotted a hipster.I found some more information here. However, the appearance of a hipster does not do justice to a hipster’s attitude. While it cannot be seen, the attitude is the most important part of being a true hipster.
There are certain steps that can be taken if you are ready to change your life to exhibit the hipster the way of life. The first and foremost step is to adopt the hipster attitude. You need radiate the fact that you could purely care less. A great way to start is to wake-up with bed-head and just leave it like that. Also, you need to be educated. Read the paper or listen to the radio so that you can form your own outward opinions about society. Also, work on your vocabulary. Hipsters love to insert long, ridiculous sounding words into sentences to make them sound intellectual, when in reality, they probably looked up the word that morning and decided to make it their spoken word of the day
The second step is adopting the style. A true hipster owns at least one outfit previously owned by their grandparents. Try dying your hair bright colors and grow out those bangs and sweep them to the side, just like tween sensation Justin Bieber. Oversized sweaters and skinny jeans never fail. Be sure to own a couple vintage prints of unknown bands. Originality is the key!
